Over at "EyeMSick", Greg posted some thoughts about a possible link between the crest on Desmond's shirt, and what might happen to Jacob (as in a resurrection/rebirth/etc.). So we did some research on the images from seasons 1 & 2. Time will tell if more info can be found on this particular symbol, I'll post what we might find here.

Hmnn.Guess this isn't the shirt I was thinking of, I was thinking of a dark blue shirt, so I am officially off the case.
What the crap was that third link about? I'm glad my head is filled with simple-minded conspiracies. The 2nd post I actually came across and bookmarked awhile ago because of the 2012 anthology. Since Cthulhu and the Old Ones came from Aldeberan, even though its not galactic center, my 2012 story will center on this Milky Way on the horizon deal. So it was I missed even thinking about the Phoenix, but it was neat looking back.
Heheh, you always make me laff. Yeah, I'm not savvy on the junk in the third link either. It looks like Freemason, Illuminati, new World Order type fodder. But I do find the "order out of chaos" idea to be a slight fit for Lost, as in, possibly what Jacob was hoping for humankind. ???
But like Greg said, what's with the crude sketch lines around and through the phoenix on Des' shirt? Odd way to stylize a logo IMO, i.e, practically crossing it out.
Update: Zort at the Lost Community Blog said that he's not aware of a popular or common use of a two-headed phoenix crest in the UK, but that a Freemason symbol would not be out of the ordinary there.
